Free Valentine's Day Cards

The Beatles once crooned that Money Can’t Buy Me Love but is that really true? This year Mr. Thrifty and I are trying to see just how thrifty we can be when it comes to Valentine’s Day. I began to think of all the things that traditionally hearken the sentimentality of this special day. I’ve always been a sucker for flowers for Valentine’s Day and for me a card of some kind is a must. For some people dinner out is a must and for others all is right in the world if a box of candy comes their way.

I’m searching the stores and the web to help you save money this Valentine’s Day. Now is not too soon to be thinking about it. Just last week I bought a roll of red and gold wrapping paper, for 20 cents during an after Christmas sale. A little planning now will go a long way later towards making this Valentine’s Day the best ever without busting your budget.

Today I’m going to tell you where you can get six FREE Valentine’s Day cards. When I say free I’m saying FREE including shipping. The site is called Stories by Everyone. What makes these extra special is you can upload your favorite photo to the card to personalize it. I uploaded a photo of us that was taken a few years ago on an amazing vacation I won. This is one of our favorite memories. You might take out that dress you know he just loves on you and have your picture taken in it. Do you have kids? See if you can get a friend to take a photo of you and your little ones.

Your free cards even allow you to personalize it with a special note. It can be something simple. I wrote Forever I know you'll be here in my heart and in my arms. When you are ready for checkout look at the bottom of the bill and you will see where they ask you for a coupon. Simply write the word: VALENTINE and proceed. You will see your bill then drops from under $6 to FREE. Even better shipping is free. It did ask for my credit card number but since there was NO MONEY due I simply clicked proceed and I received an order summary. Hurry, offer expires February 1, 2009. Not valid with any other offer.

What's Free Under The Tree

Like so many others, we’ve cut way back on spending this Christmas. Then again I’ve always been able to buy super gifts that have the Wow factor for the recipient without the Oww factor for my wallet. Let me share what’s under the Thrifty Maven’s tree this year.

For hubby there is an 11x14 collage photo poster from Snapfish. I bought it when they were running a special for free shipping and I was able to use a credit I had for a free poster. Mr. Thrifty and I have been married for seven years now and I thought he’d appreciate a collage of happy moments we have spent together. The other gift he will be opening come Christmas day is a mouse pad which features a photo of us taken on our last vacation. This was another free credit I had earned on Snapfish and I ordered it when I ordered the poster. I was also able to take advantage of a promotion advertised on Oprah for a free 8x10 hard covered photo book. Hubby and I had won a weeks’ vacation at an all inclusive resort in St. Lucia and I used the pictures from this vacation to create a unique gift. Out of pocket for hubby this year? ZERO dollars but don’t tell him because he’ll think I spent a fortune.

Hubby has learned a thing or two because I do know that I’m receiving something from Victoria’s Secret. He’s not as good at keeping secrets and besides I had to go with him to pick my gifts out. I’m really big on shopping for gifts all year. This is a HUGE savings. Twice this year Victoria Secret sent us a coupon for a free pair of panties. They even put the panties in the cute pink bags and I’ve spied them under the tree.

The grandkids reaped HUGE benefits this year from my sweeping hobby. They received those Indiana Jones Lego sets. Altogether these Lego sets were valued at over $300. I won them though but the grandkids won’t care if I won them or bought them. Total out of pocket for their gift, $20 and that was for shipping.
Speaking of wins I sent the boys gift cards that I won. Dan, my oldest received a $100 gift card from AMC Bowling Centers. Michael received a $25 gift card from Barnes and Noble and a $25 gift card from iTunes. Total cost of their gift under a dollar for stamps.

The big gifts this year haven't arrived yet and are free!!!!!!!! I won FOUR computers. Hubby will be getting a new touch screen, the boys will each be receiving a new HP notebook computer, and I will be gettng a new notebook computer and printer. This was an amazing blog contest and as soon as I receive this prize I will tell you more about it.

I realize not everyone enters sweepstakes and contests but if you are interested I will be posting articles about sweeping.

A Text Message From Santa? Priceless

Do you remember thinking that a personalized message from Santa was the greatest thing ever? Well what if I told you that your child could get THREE text messages from Santa. That’s right, Santa’s gone tech savy and your child will be thrilled.

You can choose from three unique text message packages. You can even add your own fully personalized text message from Santa Claus on Christmas morning. Your child doesn’t have a phone? The message can be sent to the parent’s phone.

The price is really affordable at only $4.49 for a text message package. Still not sold? Want to feel a little charitable? Well $1 of your purchase will go to the March of Dimes to support its mission to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Find out more by going to www.textsanta.net.

While I’m on the subject of Santa, you can help your child track the jolly man in the red suit by checking out NORAD’s tracks Santa. This is absolutely free. You can even track Santa by phone for FREE. Back in ancient times when I was growing up and color TV was considered high tech, I remember watching the news on Christmas Eve and feeling assured that Santa was on his way as they broadcasted that he’d been sited on radar. This of course was my cue to run to bed and pretend to be asleep so I could catch him putting my gifts under the tree.

Merry Christmas from our house to yours!!!!!!!!!!

Enter Songs Without Having to Synchronize Your iPod

Now I’m going to be the first one to admit that I’m not a rocket scientist. Trust me I knew that even before my sixth grade teacher announced that to the class. Still I have a bit of geeky techie interest thing going on in my blonde little head. If you are able to merge music AND technology then I’m all in.

I was recently listening to Todd Cochrane’s from geeknewscentral.com’s Pod Cast and I found out that there is a FREE download that will allow you to copy music and videos between your iPod and computers usually without having to install anything on the computer.

With SharePod you can quickly and easily share your iPod music collection with friends. The program can back up and restore your entire iPod or simply copy individual tracks to and from the device. SharePod can also add, remove, and edit playlists, import music/videos into your iTunes library, including playlists and ratings.

For more information and the free download go to http://www.getsharepod.com/
